Full Timers:  At Home on the Road.

Where the foot loose and fancy free meet

At Home on the Road

The Full Timers Chapter was chartered on March 28, 1984 at the Fort Myers, Florida Convention with about 30 members. Over the last 40 years, our membership has peaked to over 300 and dropped to around 100. Our purpose is to promote social, recreational, and informational exchange activities for members who are living full time in their motor homes, or are interested in gaining information on that lifestyle. The information we love to exchange is focused on our favorites while RVing: recipes, restaurants, recreation, rest stops and repair facilities. New members are found among Full Time RVers as well as those who are interested in the Full Time lifestyle.

We are a very unique and diverse group, differing from most other chapters in that we drive various types and makes of motor homes, come from all walks of life, are retired, semi-retired, and still working. Since our chapter is part of the International Area, we have members from all over the US and Canada. You name them, and we have them! Many members live in their motor homes most of the year, if not all of it; some spend only six months or less traveling. ANYWHERE is home.

The Full Timers Chapter has two rallies a year, approximately one or two weeks ahead of the FMCA's International conventions. For the last several years we have combined our efforts with the Elks and Military Veterans Chapters. We pack fun and fellowship into our rallies! Games and activities are an everyday part of our rallies. Our members enjoy meal times; we are usually able to have breakfast and dinner together each of the rally days with a daily happy hour. Sometimes we cook our own meals, individually or as a potluck dinner; other times we have catered meals; occasionally we go to a local restaurant as a group. When possible, we include local area activities and entertainment; some examples: tours of interesting companies, musical groups, boat trips, golf and speakers.

At the FMCA International Conventions, our chapter is the volunteer host for the ever popular Ice Cream Social, a wonderful teamwork effort and lots of fun. We also conduct the Full Timer's Seminar, where we impart our experiences and general knowledge about Full Time RVing. This seminar is in a panel format with over a hundred years of RV experience on the panel. Our purpose is to demonstrate how we manage our personal affairs while we're At Home on the Road and show the advantages and disadvantages of this life style, as we see them. We hope this helps others make the decision of whether to go Full Timing part timing, some timing or anything in between.  We relate our experiences but do not make specific recommendations.

During the FMCA International Conventions, many of our members volunteer individually for many of the services,Parking crews, Security, Handicap transport, and others, that help to make the event successful. We try to park together in small groups, arranging a potluck meal or hors d'oeuvres as well as gather most afternoons, giving us plenty of time to renew old friendships and to establish new ones. It is great fun to pull into a campground and meet a fellow Full Timer.

Please check out our website regularly for what's happening now in our chapter.
